Terra Vac Scoops Civils 2008 Innovation Award LONDON: 08 December 2008: Civils 2008 Exhibition and Conference in London saw the announcement of the winners of the Civils 2008 Innovation Awards. Divided into innovative service and innovative product categories, the awards were open to companies throughout the UK civil engineering industry. Terra Vac , based in Castleford, West Yorkshire, won the Innovative Service Award for its Six Phase Heating technology.

Six Phase Heating is designed for in-situ cleaning of heavily contaminated sites. The technique allows contaminated land to be cleaned up while avoiding environmentally unfriendly excavation and transport to landfill. It is good for the environment and opens up much needed brownfield land for development in areas where space is at a premium.

Terra Vac won the award for its excellence against all of the judges’ key criteria including,

• Innovation,
• Practicality,
• Sustainability,
• Benefit to the industry.

In accepting the award on behalf of Terra Vac, Andy Fraser, Director of Terra Vac commented, ‘We are delighted that Six Phase Heating has been recognised, both for its innovation, and its potential benefit to the UK Civil Engineering Industry. We now have a proven remediation technology that can tackle the most difficult contaminated sites, rendering them available for re-development in weeks, rather than years.’
