Suitable for
 
The rapid and effective removal of LNAPL, DNAPL, dissolved and absorbed phase contaminants in more cohesive soils.
Technique
 
High-tension electric power is split into six phases and introduced into the subsurface via electrodes in hexagonal arrays.
Electrical resistance heats the subsoils and groundwaters, vaporising contaminants, which are then removed using conventional vapour extraction techniques for subsequent treatment at surface.
Benefits
 
This technique is particularly effective in difficult, more cohesive soils.
Very rapid and thorough technique for time limited projects in difficult sites. The electrode arrays can be installed in clusters in the vadose zone or saturated zone simultaneously.
