First use of asphaltic emulsion in UK on former urban timber yard with some fuel history, impacted with heating oils, PAHs and metals.

Proposed residential redevelopment programme necessitated rapid treatment.  In excess of 2000m3 impacted soils stabilised within 4 weeks using an asphaltic emulsion and cement binder.

Emulsion reacted with hydrocarbons reversing the distillation process rendering contaminants non-leaching allowing reuse on site.

After UST removal works, soils contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons held within brick bund.

Approximately 100m3 material stabilised using proprietary e-clay techniques over a period of 4 days.

Project signed off for residential redevelopment by regulators after 4 weeks. 

Site rebuilt as apartments.
