Fast-track remediation of a former timber yard impacted with LNAPL and DNAPL which was being redeveloped for commercial end use in Yorkshire.

The shallow perched groundwater impacted with LNAPL and DNAPL separated vertically from a minor aquifer by a thin layer of clay.

Carefully installed collection trenches backfilled with porous media and collection pipework assisted the controlled removal of impacted groundwater and NAPL using electrically driven pumps. Multi-stage treatment/settlement and separation phases were used to remove product and treat groundwaters prior to discharge to sewer. Separated NAPL was disposed off site at a licensed facility with all duty of care. Adsorbent material was used to polish separated groundwater prior to discharge.
