| Project 1 | |
Removal of heavy coal tar DNAPL from sands and gravels at former gasworks site. |
|
| Notes | |
Dense free product had accumulated below groundwater in sandy gravels above the underlying clay at approximately 6m below ground level. A pneumatic ring main was used to power a set of 15 dedicated downwell pumps which were operated in a sequential manner to allow adequate recharge, phased to coincide with tidally influenced groundwater. In excess of 10,000 litres of free product was removed over an operational period of 18 months. |
|
| Project 2 | |
Removal of floating free product from operational distribution depot for a major retailer in South-East England. |
|
| Notes | |
In excess of 100 extraction wells have been installed to recover floating diesel fuel from approximately 6m below ground level utilising vacuum enhanced free product recovery techniques. Three separate extraction units were connected to a buried header main system. To date, in excess of 60,000 litres of diesel have been recovered |
|
| Project 3 | |
Operational fuel retail site in North-West. Free phase petroleum up to 2m in depth was encountered. |
|
| Notes | |
Recovery wells were installed in order to enable direct manual bailing/pumping and were also used for vacuum enhanced free product recovery. |
