Initial evaluation of the site indicated in-situ treatment but further evaluation works revealed contamination was confined underlying by stiff clays and that waters were 'perched'.

An accurate determination of quantities of impacted soil were undertaken and remedial works changed to incorporate excavation and disposal at appropriate facility.

A total of approximately 2000m3 of soils were removed for disposal to licensed facility over a two-week period.  Impacted groundwaters were pumped through a multistage treatment facility prior to disposal to foul sewer in accordance with appropriate consents etc.

Prior to backfill with imported clean, the floor and walls of the excavation were inspected, sampled and analysed to verify complete removal of contamination.

Site hand-over achieved within six weeks.
